ICON GALLERIES :   All icons in these galleries are by well known iconographers: #1 Selection of medieval icons ; #2 Contemporary icons of Christ ; #3 Contemporary icons of the Theotokos ; #4 Medieval and contemporary icons of Christ, taken from galleries #1 and #2, almost double in size.

THE MUSIC :  Click Start to start choral chant*. Several music titles will be playing sequentially. Click Stop to turn it off* (music titles / play times). Optionally click* / select 'Sacred Music'.

SUMMARY & SEQUENCE OF STEPS FOR CLEAN FULL-SCREEN VIEW :  (1) Press F11 for Full Screen View or, in IE menu, click 'View', then 'Full Screen' ; (2*) Start music ; (3*) Select gallery ; (4*) Click 'Hide Menu' and scroll the link 'Display Menu' out of sight ; (5) Sit back to see the icons pass, listen to the choral chant, enjoy, meditate.....

HINTS AND DETAILS
There is no need to read the section below if everything works well. Only read it if the images move too slowly or don't move at all, or if the total music play time is much less than indicated above.
  • It is useful to have two (2) music players, Microsoft Media Player and Real One Player. If you don't have these these 2 players installed some music pieces will not be played and the total music playtime will then be much less than indicated above. When downloading the most recent versions, make sure you click the links for the free players. On my own computer, the best results are obtained by setting the MS Media Player as the default player, and setting the RealOne player to play the mp3 music files.
  • As a very approximate reference, the 37 images in the 3 galleries combined will be scrolling past in about 9 -10 minutes. That is after re-booting (when the maximum amount of memory is available), and at a computer clock speed of 550 MHz. For a computer with a clock speed of 800 Mhz that time will be about 6 minutes.
  • Images can be held back (immobilized) by mousing over them. You can also drag the images left or right with the mousepointer while keeping the mouse left clickbar pressed down.
  • With a freshly re-booted computer, images will move about 50% faster. Cleaning * out the cache and defragmenting the hard disk will make images move 15 - 20% faster. As well, overall traffic to servers influences scroller speed; this cannot be controlled, of course.
    * Speaking about cleaning, dirt on the screen can be removed with isopropyl rubbing alcohol on a piece of soft cotton; dry screen down with just soft cotton.
  • If the images don't move or take 3x or 4x as long, a change in your IE menu may increase the scroller speed. Having done so (on my own computer) the scroller applets loaded 5 times faster and the images (finally!) got moving.

        4. Go to the Java section and uncheck all items except Java Console
        5. Reboot computer.
